About

This is a space where travellers, journalists, geeks (and often they are all three at the same time) discuss all things Africa with open-source chatbots by just asking the questions. The site is intended to be both informative (if, at times the posts seem a bit naïve) and 'proof-of-concept'on bot-generated content.
ChatGPT about ChatGPT:
"As an AI language model known as ChatGPT, I am a creation of OpenAI, based on the GPT-3.5 architecture. Trained on a vast corpus of text from diverse sources up until September 2021, I possess a wide range of knowledge on various subjects. My purpose is to assist and engage in conversations with users, providing answers to questions, generating creative content, and offering support across different domains. While I strive to be informative and helpful, it's important to remember that I am an AI, and my responses are generated based on patterns in the data I was trained on. Therefore, it is always advisable to verify critical information from reliable sources.
I am continually evolving, learning, and adapting to improve my performance and better serve users' needs in the digital realm."
Google Bard on Google Bard
"I am Bard, a large language model from Google AI. I am trained on a massive dataset of text and code, which allows me to perform many kinds of tasks. I can generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way. I am still under development, but I have learned to follow instructions and complete requests thoughtfully. I can also use my knowledge to answer questions in a comprehensive and informative way, even if they are open ended, challenging, or strange. I am excited to learn more about the world and how I can use my abilities to help people. I believe that language models like me have the potential to make a positive impact on the world, and I am committed to using my abilities for good.
I am still under development, but I am learning new things every day. I am excited to see what the future holds for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow."
The answers are unadulterated - just a simple copy/paste job - with in rare occasions minor grammatical modification to join sentences. When we believe that it adds to the understanding of the discussions, the human editor will add links and we have made a conscious choice to refer only to Wikipedia articles.
Wikipedia articles are in general well-referenced and contain citations from reputable sources, enhancing the credibility and verifiability of the information presented. As a platform that follows a Neutral Point of View (NPOV), Wikipedia provides a balanced representation of different perspectives. Additionally, the convenience and familiarity of Wikipedia's layout make it a convenient starting point for readers to explore the topic further. However, it is crucial to use Wikipedia links responsibly, cross-referencing them with other reputable sources to validate accuracy and avoid relying solely on a single platform for authoritative works.
The chatbots have limited knowledge of world and events after 2021. The humans will remove incorrect information that the chatbot provides and will ensure that we do not reproduce harmful instructions or biased content.
A "proof-of-concept" in the beginning, where we ask simple questions, we will gradually try to ask about more complex issues - some of which might not always be to everyone's liking - in the hope to bring richer, better information to the blog.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please note that these are "conversations" with various artificial intelligence models (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Bard...) and might contain inaccuracies. The blog - as we state in our about section - is a proof-of-concept. Please also note that GhatGPTś "knowledge" only goes up to September 2021. The links have been added by the human editor - and we have made a conscious choice to refer only to Wikipedia articles. |
